Hello everyone, my name is George and today it’s my turn to write the blog. The end of last week was rather exciting with Scotland saying NO to independence and then the release of the brand new IPhone 6. Whilst both of those headlines have caused huge excitement around the world, the focus of my blog will be BEARDS!
My choice of topic comes after seeing a brilliant fact about beards on twitter. According to The Gentle-man, “During the Middle Ages, it was considered offensive to touch another man’s beard. The act was grounds for a duel!” This may be a little excessive today, however, beards definitely appear to have had a resurgence in popularity recently. A clean-shaven man appears to be very last-season at the moment and the popularity of beards is apparent by the increased number of bearded men roaming the streets and more importantly populating the modelling world.
While I understand the desire to grow a beard (and envy the ability to do so) I cannot understand a new bizarre trend, which involves grooming the beard in to weird shapes. Some men are going beyond merely growing and trimming a beard and appear to spend vast amounts of time finding the weirdest and craziest ways to shape their beard. While I am often very jealous of another mans full beard I find this new fad of shaping a beard rather strange and hope that it disappears...Quickly! A full beard is something to behold, whereas, I feel, these new looks just look ridiculous. I fear that part of this tirade against ridiculous beards may in part be due to jealousy, but I’m sure I’m not alone in my dislike of wacky beards!
So while I am glad to see the return of the beard to fashion (and completely endorse duels when one is touched) I fail to understand this crazy fad of beard design!
Till next time,
