Social media is everywhere now-a-days, whether we’re ‘checking in’ at the cinema, posting a photo of our lunch or joining the latest hash tag craze, we’re all guilty of becoming a little social media obsessed – but why is this always considered a bad thing?!
Being in my late teens, social media has always seemed like something fun to me, my earliest teen memories are full of MSN messenger and Bebo accounts and sad as it may seem, it was a lot of fun! I agree there are plenty of bad things that can happen through the use of social media, the power to remain anonymous and a screen to hide behind often has a very adverse effect on people… But I want to focus on the positives and how it’s helping so many businesses today progress!
deVOL Kitchens (our parent company) for example has over 10,000 followers on Instagram alone! This wide audience of people who are really interested in kitchens and the deVOL lifestyle is one of the best ways of marketing, they’re reaching the people who have a genuine enthusiasm for their products and best of all it’s free!
Here at PPco we love interacting with our potential customers through the use of social media, it means we can post relevant and up to date information instantly instead of waiting for a magazine to get published or a news story to go live. It also means that our lovely customers can get in contact with us with the click of a button, whether they’re thanking us for their order, bringing a concern to our attention or just interested in our products - social media has made it that much easier to build great relationships!
Many social media sites aren't just helping our customers learn more about our company, they're helping us with new ideas and inspiration that can actually fuel some very successful projects! For example our Vintage collection started when we saw some great images of a vintage cricket jumper on Pinterest, we decided we just had to get one for our next photo shoot...a few Google searches later and we were over run with other beautiful vintage bits and decided we had to make a go of this!
