A Weekend in London

Last weekend me and my boyfriend visited London, living in Leicestershire it's nice to get a taste of city life every now and again and London never disappoints. We were originally going to London to go to The Ritz for afternoon tea but we had decided to make a weekend of it. We were staying in the London Bridge area and our hotel was just up the road from Borough Market, if you're ever in the area I'd definitely recommend popping in! There's an abundance of food stalls selling fresh produce and also lots of food vans selling everything from bacon sandwiches to donuts to curries!

After a busy day exploring the city, we took a trip the highest point in London - the Shard! It offers incredible views over London but if you're a bit like me and you get jelly legs you might not want to look down!

On Sunday it was time for afternoon tea! We enjoyed a selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and tea, everything was so perfectly presented and tasted even better than it looked! We were well looked after by our waiter and nothing was ever too much trouble, you really do feel like Royalty. If you ever find yourself in London and you fancy a treat I would definitely recommend heading to the Ritz. You can book here.

Trend Spotting at LFW

It's my favourite time of the year, the worldwide fashion weeks are taking over the front pages of magazines, Instagram feeds and now our very own blog! We thought we'd do a little round up of the 5 top trends spotted at LWF 2018!

SUITS

It was the unmissable trend spotted on bloggers and influencers everywhere during fashion week and we love it! Whether your keeping casual and oversized or more tailored and smart, it looks like this trend isn't going anywhere fast.

suit.png

YELLOW

With Easter fast approaching maybe we should be embracing yellow a little more, the street style girls definitely were! Whether you dare to wear a bright lemon shade or prefer a more subtle mustard, you'll be bang on trend this season!

yellow.png

POLKA DOTS

Polka dots are everywhere this season and we love this cute throwback! A cute polka dot skirt is the perfect pairing with a chunky knit or wear an all over dotty ensemble if you're feeling a little more daring! We love this flirty girly trend and we're hoping it goes nowhere fast!

spots.png

WIDE LEG TROUSERS

Has the reign of the skinny jean finally come to an end? Maybe not, but it definitely has a new rival! Whether they're denim, block coloured or vibrantly patterned wide leg trousers are making a come back and this time they're not just for summer!

wide.png

TRAINERS

Think comfort and fashion all rolled into one! Chunky 'ugly' trainers were spotted everywhere at LFW, they're perfect for dressing down an outfit and make the perfect shoe for running between shows!

A Winter Wonderland

Last weekend I took a trip down to London to get into the Christmas spirit in the most beautifully festive place in the country! First we started with a trip to Harrods, the outside of the store was covered in wreaths and gold garlands, the only store where the outside may be more impressive than what's inside! You can easily get lost amongst the designer bags, kitchenware and the most amazing array of food I have ever seen however it was the Christmas shop we really wanted to see! It was like a (very busy) Santa's grotto and the decorations were beautiful!

image3 (1).jpeg
image1 (11).jpeg
image2 (5).jpeg

Next stop was Covent Garden, my favourite place in London to visit at Chrismas - they always have the best decorations! There was huge mistletoe decorations hanging from the ceiling and a band was playing Christmas songs outside the shops!

image1 (12).jpeg
image1 (13).jpeg

Lastly, what we really went for - Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park! We had heard lots about Winter Wonderland and it did not disappoint! The park was full of rides, food stalls, bars and Christmas markets! It looks like I was too busy eating mini pancakes to take many pictures but I really do recommend you visit if you're looking for something fun to do in London during Christmas. It's free to enter and there are many things including ice skating, an Ice Bar, Cinderella on Ice, a Circus and many more that you can book before you go! Winter Wonderland is running until 1st January so you still have plenty of time to visit!

SLOGANS

Carrying on from the summers slogan t-shirt trend, this autumn the slogans are going to be everywhere! Think bags, jackets and even shoes bringing some sassy statements to your wardrobe.

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

Short hemlines are coming back and the only way to deal with them in the British winter is to pair them with some knee high boots! If the short hemlines sound a little to risque you can always opt for a more modest pairing with jeans.

SEQUINS

Maybe we're prepping for NYE a little early this year but sequins are everywhere this season! With everything from slouchy t-shirts to slip dresses adorned in glittery goodness you can make everything from a trip to the supermarket to a few afterwork drinks a glamorous affair.

Festival Essentials

For those of you who are lucky enough to be heading to a festival this summer we have collated a list of 5 festival essentials that you don't want to forget!

1. Portable Charger

The most annoying thing about camping is the lack of electricity! Make sure you get yourself a portable charger (or maybe two!) to keep your phone charged up and ready for pictures for the whole weekend!

2. Waterproof Gadget Case

It's not a British festival if it doesn't rain, so it's probably a good idea to protect your phone/camera from the weather by using a waterproof gadget case. No more worries from flooded tents and muddy puddles as your phone is protected and can be worn around your neck for security too!

Jobe Gadget Case - Buy Here.

3. Boutique Camping Tent Finder App

This may be the best app invention for festivals, in what seems like a sea of tents it can be surprisingly hard to find which one is yours, especially at night! The BC Tent app allows you to snapshot certain locations and save them so you can easily find them again! It also includes a compass in case you have no GPS, a torch, weather information and an instruction manual of how to put up your tent!

4.Polaroid Camera

For those snaps you just can't wait to share, take a Polaroid camera! Share with your new found friends or stash away for the memory box!

5. Camp Shower

The worst thing about festivals is the showers - so why not bring your own! The Camp Shower is hung up and uses solar power to heat the water up so it's ready to whenever you need it! Just undo the valve and shower freely!

Pink and green should never be seen, or should they?

Here at PPco we get so excited when people are enjoying and embracing pink just as much as we do so when we spotted the latest home ware trend popping up on our Pinterest feed we had to share it with you! PINK and GREEN! It may sound a little risky but once you've seen some pictures I'm sure you'll fall in love with it too!

Pink home decor is usually reserved for kids bedrooms but the new pink on the block is a beautiful dusky mineral pink and it's perfect for every room of your house. Combined with some beautiful greenery or a earthy green feature wall the combination is the perfect mix of warm, soft colours and cool and contemporary vibes! They can be used as accents in your house, for example a pink chair and a green cushion or maybe just some new fancy tableware or if you're feeling brave dress your walls in pink and green paint, whatever tickles your fancy!

Fashions Best Kept Secret...

United Apparel Liquidators or UAL as it's known, is a small clothing chain based in Nashville, USA. Their flagship store is hidden away in a mall between a nail salon and Chinese take-away and what lies inside is known as fashions best kept secret.

 UAL's Nashville Store - Image: www.racked.com

UAL's Nashville Store - Image: www.racked.com

UAL offers their customers off-price garments, similar to stores like TK Maxx but in a boutique setting. If you're anything like me you long to find a designer bargain but rummaging through a bargain bin or through endless rails of mix and match garments doesn't sound so fun! But if the items were perfectly placed and neatly organised and yet still majorly discounted you'd be more than up for it!

The first U.A.L., which opened in Hattiesburg in 1980, was in an unrentable building 10 feet from the railroad tracks. The rumble of passing trains sent women rushing out of the dressing rooms in a startle. The new Brentwood location was formerly a car rental agency, and for some inexplicable reason, a deep-freezer sits in the back room, which the employees use to store shoes.

Some of the brands offered include, Balenciaga, Chanel, Givenchy all sold at up to 90% off their original price! The small chain brand does no advertising, just relying on word of mouth and choose to place their stores in small cities where you wouldn't expect to find designer goods! However, their staff are highly knowledgeable of their products, just what you'd expect from a designer boutique!

There are currently 6 stores under the UAL brand, Hettiesberg, New Orleans, Austin and 3 stores in Nashville.

If you're in the States and would love to find a bargain, make sure you pop down and check it out! But if you live a little further a field why not take a look at our own Vintage range

A little trip to Budapest!

Having just returned from a 4 day trip to Budapest and I've been so excited to share it with you guys! Firstly, if you're looking for a cheap city break then Budapest is for you, we managed to get flights for £17 each way (!!) and there are so many beautiful hotels around the city at a fraction of the cost of the average hotel!

The city is split into two halves by the 'Danube' river which features the most beautiful bridges connecting the two sides. We stayed in Pest which is the busier side of the city, where all the bigger shopping areas and the majority of the restaurants, full of businesses big and small it's everything you'd expect from a big city. 'Buda' which lies on the opposite side of the river is full of the beautiful landmarks including the Statue of Liberty situated on Gellért Hill and Buda Castle which both offer the most incredible views of the city!

Half way up to the Statue of Liberty.

The view from the top of Gellért Hill

I always like to make a plan before I go away on a city break, the time always goes so quickly and so I wanted to make sure that I fitted everything in that I wanted to see! Most of the attractions in Budapest are free (another bonus!) for example we climbed up the Buda Castle which was completely free and is open from 6am till midnight, the city looks amazing by night! We climbed up to the top before realising there is a lift...so if you don't fancy the stairs you can still enjoy the view!

The most incredible part of Budapest for me was the architecture, the Keleti Pályaudvar station that was next to our hotel was situated in the most incredible building! Even the larger chain stores looked a lot more suave in their located within these historic buildings!

 Keleti Pályaudvar station.

We had heard a lot about the Great Market Hall and I was desperate to go and look around, sadly we didn't get to purchase any of the food but it was great to look around all the same. Located in a huge two story hall and full of bustling shoppers it was a really great experience. The bottom level of the hall was full of stalls selling fresh local produce, predominantly meats and fruit and vegetables and on the top floor sat some souvenir stalls and lots of food vans offering fresh food to go!

 The Great Market Hall.

I had heard so much about the ruin bars in Budapest so I was dead set on visiting at least one of these quirky little places during my trip. Over the past 10 years they've been opening one after another in tenement houses and factory buildings then filled full of rejected furniture and quirky designs. Our favourite was Szimpla Kert, which was apparently one of the first to open. The super old car in the back yard covered in stickers was converted into the coolest place to kick back with a cocktail!

 Szimpla Kert.

For me, no city break is complete without a bit of shopping and when the shops look this good it's so hard to resist! The beautiful Vorosmarty Square was my favourite place to shop, full of high street names nestled amongst designer boutiques - just beautiful!

I could honestly talk about this amazing trip all day, but I guess you'd all get pretty bored but I would recommend this beautiful city 100%!

We hope that we have given you a little inspiration for gifts this year and without blowing our own trumpet, our Pink Pantaloons make a very special gift too!

REAL MEN WEAR PINK

When you think of pink you’d be forgiven for thinking of pretty, feminine things but this is no longer the case. Many designers are making a case for pink in menswear and we couldn’t be happier about it!

Pink actually started off as a masculine colour, along with red these colours were worn to resemble strength but throughout the years it’s taken a shift to the feminine side. It may not have hit a lot of us yet but pink in menswear is slowly making its way into many menswear stores on the high-street.

You may not be ready to jump into a hot pink Paul Smith coat but incorporating a more subtle shade into your wardrobe is sure going to warm up your winter wardrobe. Our favourite picks are below:

Pietro Nolita

Pietro Nolita is probably the most instagrammable place we have ever seen! Everything from the sign to the seating is pink and we have fallen in love with the dreamy images on our social media feeds!

The gorgeous 'Healthy Italian' New York restaurant is opening its doors this week, so if you're lucky enough to be in the big apple, we would definitely recommend a look! With just 28 seats, the new Italian Diner is a small boutique restaurant but with the hype already growing we're sure it's going to be packed every night!

plant.jpg

Restaurtanter Pietro Quaglia says that he wanted to open "his version of an Italian Diner" and although he keeps his lips sealed it's said that many of our favourite designers are making reservations for LFW! Everything from the walls, to the plates and bar stools is bubblegum pink, except for a few house plants and the vintage copper sugar tins, it's so dreamy!

If you'd like to visit Pietro Nolita you can find them on 174 Elizabeth St, New York, 10012! For some more dreamy image inspo we recommend a quick look on their Instagram too!

An Exciting New Collaboration!

We haven’t posted a blog in a while and I wanted to make sure you guys are keeping up with everything Pink Pantaloon!

We have recently been in touch with a burlesque group called ‘The Folly Mixtures’. These gorgeous girlies have been together for 5 years and definitely made a name for themselves in the Burlesque world! We are lucky enough to be working with them at the minute and we are super excited! We don’t want to reveal too much yet but if you follow us on Twitter you may have seen them strutting about in their Pink Pantaloons and one of our Zoe Playsuits has even made it to Ibiza!

In the meantime if you’d like to find out more about the Folly Mixtures, head over to their website or if you’d like to see them in action, their much anticipated London Wonderground show is just around the corner (27th July!) and you can still buy tickets here

May at the Mill

We love to keep you up to date with what's happening at the Mill and what a better way to do so than a blog post?! I've collected some of my favourite images that have been taken these past few weeks whilst the weather we've been enjoying the beautiful British sunshine!

It's not very often that we get this beautiful weather in England so we made the most of it and took lots of photos of the Mill and the lovely little animals that surround it! Our cheeky little chickens love roaming around the grounds and causing a nuisance! We also love to collect their eggs - they always taste so much better fresh!

The newest addition to the Mill, our adorable little ducklings! They are around 2 weeks old now and they're just so cute!! Our lovely production girls get the best view of the Mill pond through their window so we always have a reason to go and visit them!

We couldn't talk about the Mill without including the peacocks!! They just love showing off in front of the camera and we don't blame them - how beautiful do they look?!

If you'd like to come and visit us at the Mill, to see all our lovely animals and get lost in a world of antiques and gifts we are open 6 days a week and we'd love you to come and say hello!

Making a Case For 'Big' Pants

‘Big pants’ have always had a bit of a stigma, not wanting to look like ‘Bridget Jones’ has definitely made us opt for an uncomfortable thong more often then we'd like to admit... Well, we are happy to announce that big pants are making a comeback!

The return this year of Bridget Jones - a pin-up for the more capacious pant - cements the cultural moment for the unbrief-brief.
— Charlotte Sinclair

The day of the thong is well and truly over and according to Vogue we should definitely be making the move into a larger, more comfortable brief! The fifties style high waist are already popular amongst the A-list and there was also more than a little flash of ‘big’ pants at the recent D&G & Burberry catwalk shows! Wearing a pair of high waisted pants with an otherwise sheer outfit seems like a popular choice too, with everyone from Kim Kardashian to Taylor Swift, Beyoncé to Amber Valletta all having tried this look recently.

 Image: www,vogue.co.uk  -  Amber Valletta

Image: www,vogue.co.uk  -  Amber Valletta

It’s not hard to see why these changes are happening, girl power is stronger than ever and so why shouldn't we be empowering ourselves with comfort over sex appeal!? With the return of the nineties being a huge hit this season it’s no surprise that we are adopting the 90’s grunge style in underwear too with branded waistbands and ‘girl boxers’ also super popular at the minute including Calvin Klein’s latest campaign including Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid sporting these styles!

Image - www.dailymail.co.uk  -  Kendall Jenner for Calvin Klein

Image - www.dailymail.co.uk  -  Kendall Jenner for Calvin Klein

However we think that these styles can be super sexy as well as comfortable, high waisted pants don't have to be made of cotton with an unflattering elasticated waist (unless you like that kind of thing!). We think that well made, beautifully designed pants can look just as sexy as we may have thought only a g-string could achieve. Our gorgeous India High Waist and Kitty Girl Boxers are making a front for sexy pants that provide the utmost comfort!

Coachella Style 2016

The first weekend of Coachella is officially over and we haven't just got our eyes on the music performances but the fashionCoachella is without a doubt a very influential festival when it comes to setting the trends for the forthcoming summer. I've put together a collection my favourite looks from the weekend from lust-worthy street style to show-stopping celebrity outfits.

 Street Style - image: popsugar

Street Style - image: popsugar

The first street style look that I'm obsessed with is this beautiful sheer number, being in the Lingerie business it's no surprise that I go for a look that's very much made up of lingerie inspired styles. I love this look as the floaty feminine black sheer dress is sexy and classy at the same time, teamed with a super on trend bralette and high waisted knickers, this look is going to take you right from the shops to the beach this summer.

Kendall Jenner - image: glamour magazine

Kendall Jenner - image: glamour magazine

Kendall Jenner is also looking so chic in this beautiful crochet dress, which looks very boho-chic paired with lace up sandals, round sunglasses and statement jewellery. Crochet dresses and cover-ups have already started to make an appearance for the coming months and I absolutely love them! They look sooo cool and are super easy to wear, my favourite being over a bikini when chilling on the beach.

 Suki Waterhouse - image: Vogue.co.uk

Suki Waterhouse - image: Vogue.co.uk

Last but not least, these Tommy Hilfiger denim dungarees look super cute on Suki Waterhouse! Paired with a sheer blouse, frilly socks, white trainers and some vintage style sunglasses she looks very nostalgic! This look takes me back to the 90's, an era which seems to be making a comeback over the last few weeks and Suki shows us how to bring this trend into the sunshine!

So, that's my favourite 3 looks from weekend one of Coachella, if you think I've missed a good one - feel free to let us know!

Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear

We were very excited to hear that the V&A’s newest exhibit is focused on our favourite thing… underwear! Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear is going to run from Saturday 16th April 2016 – 12th March 2017 so luckily there’s plenty of time to go and visit! The exhibit is said to explore the impact of underwear on the history of fashion and how the ‘perfect body’ today is completely different to what it was 100 years ago!

“It’s nice to suddenly look at what lies beneath and show how fashion silhouettes have evolved,” - Susanna Corder, a researcher for the exhibition
 image: www.ibtimes.co.uk

image: www.ibtimes.co.uk

The exhibit includes a whole host of over 200 garments from the whalebone corsets of the 18th century to the WW1 textile shortage and running up to modern day. They even have a few iconic pieces worn by celebrities including the silver sheer Liza Bruce dress worn by Kate Moss which caused quite a lot of controversy at the time! Other iconic pieces include the first thong which was created by Rudi Gernreich as a bathing suit just after nude bathing was banned in LA and a Swarovski crystal embellished corset worn by Dita Von Teese in 2011.

It sounds like such a great exhibit and we are definitely going to try visit ourselves!

If you'd like to find out more about the exhibition or buy tickets please click here.
