As an avid trend hunter and self-confessed shoe-aholic I just couldn't resist doing a blog about all the gorgeous footwear that is bang on trend right now! I'm a firm believer that shoes are a very important part of any outfit and they are the easiest way to transform your look from day to night! Therefore I have collected up the most on-trend shoes and boots for this autumn winter and this is what I found...
All 4 fashion weeks showed more than a hint of velvet in their footwear this year and we’re loving it! To me, velvety textures just scream autumn/winter, so when paired with a crisp wintery shade they look so perfect for this time of year! Velvet makes the perfect statement and adds a touch of chic to any outfit, perfect for your work Christmas party!
2. Colour Block
There’s nothing like a splash of colour in your footwear to set off an outfit but it seems many designers have been focussing on more than one colour this season. We saw colour block boots all over the catwalk and they are definitely a favourite for us this fall. The autumnal tones of these boots look great in leather and they're perfect for rainy winter days!
3. Modern Mary Janes
The classic Mary Janes have been well and truly re-vamped and are definitely a hit this autumn winter. Long gone are the Velma inspired chunky heels that would have once made us wince! The new Mary Janes have been bejewelled and are full of sequins, flowers and beautiful textures! Prada, Jill Sander and Michael Kors all reworked this vintage classic at this years fashion week.
4. Thigh High
The sky is the limit! Thigh high boots are always a little controversial with many people associating the style with Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman… However I personally love thigh high boots, I think they’re perfect for autumn winter as they look great and keep you surprisingly warm! Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of boots out there that could turn heads for all the wrong reasons, but don’t knock ‘em till you've tried ‘em.
5. Fashionable Fur
Fur is not just for our favourite winter coat! Faux Fur has turned to footwear this season and here at PP we’re loving the outcome! It may sound an odd mix but if you rewind back to Sex and the City where Carrie Bradshaw strutted the streets of New York wearing a furry purple pair it all seems to make sense because let’s face it –if Carrie did it, we want to do it too! Whereas fur may be the least practical of fabrics to wear as footwear it definitely makes a statement!
6. Lace Ups
Lace up heels have been around for a few months now and we’re still in love with them! They turn every outfit slightly sultry and are perfect for a night out! Whether they’re delicate ballet pumps or 6 inch heels, lace ups seem to be a style that’s just not going away!
7. 70s Fringing
70’s style is everywhere right now! From denim flares to bell sleeved dresses the high street is full of 70’s inspired clothing and accessories! Therefore it’s no surprise that the boho trend has found its way into footwear too, with snake print ankle boots and retro platforms everywhere you look there’s no doubt about it – the 70’s has definitely made a comeback!
